General Help

The One Stop Application website allows citizens to apply for building permits, special event permits, sign permits, and new occupational licenses. It also allows citizens to track and search for permits, licenses, planning projects, and code enforcement violations throughout the City of Gahanna. The website will soon allow users to request permit inspections.

You can save travel and waiting time by filing for permits and licenses online and checking your application’s status any time of day or night. You can also pay permit and license fees online, and download and print your own building permits and other documents.

If you need immediate action on a permit application, or if you have a complicated special event or are not sure what is required for the project you’re planning, it may still be better to come to City Hall for in-person guidance.

You will be able to pay for your permit or occupational license application once its status is “Permit Approved” or “Approved” (for licenses). In order to ensure that web users are being charged the correct fees, we do not require or allow payment before all reviews have been completed.

Once your application is approved you will be notified by email, and when you view your application on the OneStopApp you will see a “Pay Fees” link on the same line as the “View”, “Print Summary”, and “Add to Watch List” links.

When you click on the “Pay Fees” link the fees will be added to your shopping cart, where you will be able to review them before submitting payment. You can pay for up to 10 fees at one time.

If your credit card’s billing address is different than the mailing address you used when you registered for the OneStopApp, please make sure to click the “Specify my billing address” button.

First, make sure to leave off city, state, zip code, and any apartment or suite number if your address has one. Only type in the house number and street name and hit Search. You’ll be able to enter an apartment/suite number on the next screen, and we don’t need the city, state, or zip code to locate the address.

If you’ve tried entering an address without an apartment/suite number, city, state, or zip code and still can’t find it, please call the One Stop Shop for assistance in determining what the legal address is for the location you’re searching for.

There is no limit to the size of a project when you file an online application. Larger-scale projects may require more documentation, which you can upload with your application or send to your Plan Reviewer once you are assigned one.

All that’s left before your permit or license can be issued is payment. You can pay online using Visa, MasterCard, or Discover, or you can bring a check or money order to 200 S Hamilton Rd. As soon as your permit or license is paid for, you’ll be able to download and print your permit or temporary license document.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover online or in person. You can also pay in person with a check or money order at the One Stop Shop at 200 S Hamilton Rd.

We do not accept cash.

The convenience fee for credit card payments is 2.45% of the total permit or license fees. This is added to all credit card payments to offset the costs that our financial institution charges us to process credit card transactions.

Once the application is approved and fees are paid, you can download your permit or license from the completed payment page. You can also find it again any time by finding the permit or license in Your Items and clicking the “Downloads” link beneath the permit or license header.
